Polar Bear Plunge

Chicago Lakefront

Chunks of ice had formed on the shoreline of North Avenue beach.

I don't recommend walking on this barefoot.

Today's temperature was around 20 degrees with 23 mile per hour winds.

This guy was pretty festive.

I couldn't help but notice how many people around me were in warm coats.

The icy water awaits my hesitant stare.

A second dip has become customary. Hey, as long as you're already in the water...

I find my trophy.

And raise it in triumph.

I think my left eye was frozen shut.

A frozen ice barrier once again impedes an easy exit onto the shoreline.

My hair is frozen stiff!

Cozy socks. Another year in the books.
