Neahkahnie Mountain Hike

Neahkahnie Mountain Hike

Hike to the Neahkahnie coastal peak for views of Nehalem Bay and the Pacific Ocean.

The trail is a steep, shaded hike through a lush forest of trees, ferns, and moss before opening up to panoramic views at the top.

During one of the 14 switchbacks, we catch a glimpse through a clearing.

There were a lot of switchbacks that took us back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and
back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and back
and forth and back and forth and back and forth
and back and forth and back and forth and
back and back and forth
and back and forth and back and forth and
back and forth and back and forth and back and forth and
back and forth and back and forth
                                                      and back and forth and
                                back and forth
           and back and

And then there was one final scramble to get the the real top.

Watch your step!

We all made it!

Pacific Oyster

Those aren't rocks, they're oyster shells!

It's amazing to watch how fast they get de-shelled.

Crab cakes, served with a smile.

Fish n' Chips.

Tillamook Country Smoker

A roadside gem not to be missed.

Stick, standard or skewered. Medium, large, or 1lb pouch?

Old fashioned, teriyaki, honey-glazed, peperoni, salt & pepper...

Like a kid in a candy store.

Winner.

50 bucks got me a good sampling that should last me until my next visit.

Bill's Tavern at Cannon Beach

One of our favorite spots along the coast.

A tasty lineup

This trip we started doodling in our "642 Things to Draw" book.

Kate works on "a snorkle"

Many of the drawings in this book are creatively collaborative.
